Water Dispensers vs Bottled Water: Which One Is Right For Me?
If you’re a business owner, office administrator, or even if you want convenient water access in your home, you may be considering a few options – bottled water, or a water dispenser. There are a few factors to consider, including water consumption, convenience, and cost.
How Do Water Dispensers Work?
Culligan has a wide variety of water dispensers, including the typical top load dispensers, bottom load dispensers, and automatic electric water pumps. They all use a three- or five-gallon jug of pure Culligan filtered water, and the pump dispenses perfectly chilled water into a bottle of your choice. How do water dispensers make water cold? All systems contain cooling elements. Within the body of the system, water is loaded into a reservoir, which uses a refrigerant chemical to absorb heat from the water, and then the cooled water is dispensed. Culligan dispensers can cool 2 Gallons per hour at 43°F-50°F.
How Efficient Are Water Dispensers?
These dispensers are ENERGY STAR rated, certified by the Underwriter Laboratories, low profile, and are perfect for any kitchen or office setting. Compared to any countertop water dispensers sold on Amazon or similar marketplaces, our Culligan water is reliable, affordable, and delicious. Using a water dispenser is also very environmentally friendly, as you can use your favorite refillable water bottle instead of single-use plastics. However, for a lot of people, grab-and-go disposable water bottles are an easier solution, and we have many options for those varieties as well.
How Often Do Water Dispensers Need Cleaned?
It is responsible to clean your dispenser every 3 to 6 months based on the frequency of use. To safely clean your dispenser, make sure you unplug it, and take it outside. Then follow these steps:
- Drain any excess water
- With a sponge or soft rag, wipe down the nozzle and reservoir with a water and bleach mixture
- Fill the reservoir with the cleaning solution and cycle through 2-3 cups out the nozzle to clean the system internally
- Flush 2 or so cups of clean water through the system to sure the system is clear of cleaning product
- Wipe down any vents, drip trays, or other fixtures that may have collected dust or debris
- Dry off and bring back inside and reinstall
There are also other self-cleaning dispenser options that clean the internal elements automatically. This doesn’t mean the dispenser will never need cleaned, but there are plenty of options to choose from.
What is the Best Type of Bottled Water?
Some Culligan dealers offer packaged water bottle delivery. The differences in bottled water brands are very minute but purified versus spring water is a decision to consider. Spring water is naturally filtered underground and collected from springs, whereas purified water has undergone a filtration process to remove impurities and contaminants. There is often debate over what is the healthiest bottled water brand, but a lot of these choices come down to a matter of taste and preference.
How Long Does Bottled Water Last?
Bottled water does have a shelf life of sorts. The water itself will never go bad, but the FDA considers the degradation of the plastic that the water is stored in and puts a shelf life of two years on cases of bottled water. Many of the reusable bottles available to buy and refill are BPA-free. A bottle that is BPA-free is one that does not use the organic compound Bisphenol A in its construction. It has been found over the past decade or so that bottles that are produced with that element when heated or washed, that Bisphenol A can leak from the plastic into the water and be potentially harmful, which has led to the production and awareness of BPA free bottles.
How Much Do Water Delivery Services Cost?
Another factor to consider for water services is the cost. One option may be much more practical for your circumstances than another. Generally, the total cost of a Culligan water delivery plan will vary based on the quantity and type of water delivered, as well as the frequency of your deliveries. Similarly, single-use bottled water case purchases/deliveries are dependent on which product you require. To get exact pricing, you can reach out to your local specialist.
